Alexander Graham Bell maintained a summer home in the village of Baddeck and worked on many of his inventions here. On the way to Baddeck you'll see some of the spectacular scenery Cape Breton has to offer.
We’ll leave the metropolitan Sydney area and travel to the peaceful Cape Breton countryside away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic. Along the way, we’ll cross Little Bras d’ Or where you will see many small pleasure boats on the glistening lake. The Bras d’ Or Lakes are Canada's ‘inland sea' and are used by thousands of boaters each year. They’re a safe haven for boaters as the surrounding hills offer protection from the nearby Atlantic Ocean.
Next We’ll climb Kelly’s Mountain where we’ll stop at two stunning look-offs - the Bras d ‘ Or and Saint Ann’s Bay.
Touring along the Trans Canada Highway we’ll proceed to the village of Baddeck, the community where Alexander Graham Bell maintained his summer home. You will have ample time to stroll through this quaint little village, including its downtown and the beautiful waterfront and harbour. We will have a brief tour of the grounds of the National Historic Alexander Graham Bell Museum. As an option we can include a one hour +/- visit to the museum: Alexander Graham Bell was much more than the inventor of the telephone, he was a true Renaissance man. We will then retrace our route back to Sydney, where we will provide an opportunity to shop in the downtown area, it is a short walk to the cruise ship dock.
The private, pre-booked Alexander Graham Bell Tour will take approximately 6.0 hours (+/-) and is fully narrated by your driver/guide.
