Dave was our driver/guide who met us right at the cruise port. Being a a life-long resident of Halifax, he was very knowledgeable and showed us extra sites such as his childhood school, now closed. We drove from Halifax to Lunenberg but the famous Bluenose II Schooner was not in port, but we saw 1 of 3 Bibles with a typo of 'vineyard' instead of 'vinegar' in the 250 year old Anglican Church that was reconstructed after a fire; Mahone Bay with 3 churches (but we didn't find the buried treasure), Hubbards and its beaches, and a long stop at Peggy's Cove for photo shots of the lighthouse, village and monument plus shopping. In Halifax we drove around the Citidel and visited the Titanic cemetery with complete explanation of its gravestones. Very good tour!.
Garry is both knowledgeable and professional. We left Halifax confident that we were able to learn and visit the important sites. Garry knew that I loved photography. He made sure I got some good shots. We also visited Peggy's Cove. He is a scholar about his area. He continues to work and research. It was a great day!.
Our family vacation this year was Nova Scotia. We were going to sail from New York to Halifax. Since we are Cajun and of Acadian descent, We decided that we really wanted to visit Grand Pre and visit the land of our forefathers. The ship did not offer a tour of Grand Pre so we searched online and found Nova Scotia Van Tours/Blue Diamond. .
Upon arrival in Halifax, Darrell, our tour guide, was waiting for us with a sign with our name on it. We knew Grand Pre was at least a 2 hour drive from Halifax. Darrell kept us engaged by giving us some history of Halifax and the areas that we drove through. Once we arrived in Grand Pre, Darrell gave us ample time to tour and site see and take plenty of pictures. While on our way to the Deportation Cross, we met and chatted with a woman, who was blind, and was walking her dog. As we moved on to drive to another site, Darrell noticed a hat in the road and said it must be the lady's hat. He asked if we would mind turning around and bringing her hat to her. What a kind and decent act. The lady was extremely pleased that we took the time to return her hat. Darrell suggested the vineyard for lunch and it was spot on.
This tour exceeded our expectations. Getting to meet Darrell and having him as out tour guide without a doubt, was the icing on the cake. We will return to Nova Scotia and will request Darrell. Fantastic job NSVT/BD.

Four of us were met at the cruise terminal for a great day touring the area. Our guide was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable about the area. I didn't expect much from the Titanic graves but he shared several interesting stories of those as well.
We were four seniors of a cruise ship at the end of the season. Were met by our guide who met every requirement with courtesy and intelligence. He drove well, had an excellent knowledge of the city and area and gave us a wonderful day.We just did the basic itinerary and I know there is lots more to see but this is what we wanted and had time for. I am a professional tour guide myself and I know a good guide when I see one!! However I feel bad becasue his name escapes me!! So sorry and a big thank you!!
The best tour you could ever ask for on 10/15/2015. Gary met us at the cruise terminal and we were off to the best day ever. Seen most of Halifax and many beautiful lakes and little fishing villages heading to Peggy's Cove. Visited the maple syrup store and the most interesting was the visit to the Titanic Grave Site. We learned so much history from Gary and thank him for all the stories. Peggy's Cove was beautiful and got to take many photos. Hiring your own private taxi is the way to go.
we had to book this last minute and Dave and Gary were able to get us in with a driver named Eric. He was an excellent tour guide and went over and above to make sure we were happy. So much better than being on a tour bus from the ship. He even pre ordered some Lobsters for us for lunch. We saw all of the things you must see when you are in Halifax. I would recommend this company to anyone.
We had two different tour guides/drivers, Darryl and Dave for our four days of day tours from Halifax. Each was knowledgeable, super punctual picking us up at our hotel, suggested alternatives when we wanted to deviate from the preset itinerary and each added great local flavor to our trips. The cars were immaculate, which is a huge plus. I would definitely recommend this outfit if you want to see beautiful Nova Scotia in comfort, not be in a large motor coach or drive yourself around.
