This region is a cultural hub and attracts performers from all over. When you visit, you’re almost guaranteed to hear music while walking around downtown. Canada was born (or perhaps more accurately, conceived) in Charlottetown when the Fathers of Confederation met at Province House National Historic Site in 1864 to plot out the creation of Canada. Province House is currently undergoing renovations but you can visit the Confederation Centre of the Arts next door for an exhibit.
Charlottetown is home to both Anne of Green Gables– The Musical™ at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, and Anne & Gilbert: The Musical at the Guild. Along with theatre festivals, Charlottetown also hosts the PEI International Shellfish Festival, Old Home Week, Jack Frost Children’s Festival and more.
